“In a strange way, [Belle] challenges the status quo of the place she lives in, and I found that really inspiring. She manages to keep her integrity and have a completely independent point of view. She’s not easily swayed by other people’s perspective – not swayed by fear – mongering or scapegoating.” She said.
She revealed that the core DNA of Belle is a feminist and she felt like it that character is specially made for her.
She also admitted that she sat with film’s director and made few changes to the script. Belle’s dad in 1991 animation film was an inventor and in this film she made sure that it’s Belle who’s an inventor.
